Three undergrads Britta Gustafson (Eng), Alex Lau (CS), Shaun Tolnay (CE), win 2007 Microsoft/UCSB awards for Mentorship, Leadership, and Technological Contribution in Prof. Krintz’s new outreach course!
On March 21st, 2007, Professor Krintz’s new outreach class on
Information Technology and the Community (CS193) held its awards
ceremony. Thanks to support from Microsoft, three awards were
available for extraordinary mentoring, leadership, and technological
contribution by three undergraduates in the class.
The winners were Britta Gustafson (English), Alexander Lau
(Computer Science), and Shaun Tolnay (Computer Engineering),
respectively. Britta worked with Girls’ Inc (and the Santa Barbara
Nonprofit Support Center (NSC)), Alex worked with Dos Pueblos
High School, and Shaun worked with NSC. We provided $1500 to
each of the organizations with which the winners worked in the
name of each student. Honorable mentions were David Bellotti
and Chris Eberz for their leadership.
