Prof. Tevfik Bultan wins the 2015-16 UCSB Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award
Dr. Tevfik Bultan, professor of Computer Science, has received the 2015-16 Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award from UCSB's Academic Senate. Bultan was honored along with five other faculty members and four graduate student Teaching Assistants at an April 21, 2016 reception and Academic Senate Faculty Legislature meeting. The Academic Senate represents the faculty in the shared governance of the institution.
The Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award recognizes the contributions of faculty whose mentoring is considered exemplary. Mentoring graduate students is a vital component of our mission as a research university; it includes training graduate students for careers in research and teaching and preparing them to meet the highest professional and ethical standards as scholars and educators. Bultan said it’s “wonderful to be recognized for the part of my job that I like the most: working with graduate students. Conducting research with outstanding graduate students is very rewarding in itself, so this award is the icing on the cake.”
