Computer Science Professors Amr El Abbadi and Subhash Suri were named 2010 ACM Fellows. The Association for Computing Machinary (ACM) is the main Computer Science professional organization. The press release announcing the naming of the fellows indicated that the ACM “has recognized 41 of its members for their contributions to computing and computer science that have provided fundamental knowledge to the field and generated multiple innovations in industry, commerce, entertainment, and education. The 2010 ACM Fellows, from the world’s leading universities, corporations, and research labs, achieved accomplishments that are driving the innovations necessary to sustain competitiveness in the digital age.”

Prof El Abbadi was recognized “For contributions to scalable and fault-tolerant data management protocols”.

Prof Suri was recognized “For algorithmic contributions in computational geometry, networks, and computational economics”.
