Dr. Richert Wang is an Associate Teaching Professor for the Department of Computer Science in the College of Engineering and Computing in the College of Creative Studies. Richert received his Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science at UC Irvine in 2011 and was a lecturer of computer science at UCI before joining UCSB.
During his graduate studies, Richert has interned with Orange Labs (France Telecom R&D) and Google. After receiving his Ph.D., he primarily worked as a software development engineer for Amazon in the Amazon Appstore, TestDrive, and AWS Appstream teams. During his lecturing career, Richert has offered courses in various programming languages (Java, C/C++, and Python), computer networks, critical writing, math (linear algebra and applications of probability in computer science), multiplayer game systems, and computer game design.
Richert has conducted research in parallel and distributed systems, specifically in system design, resource management, and routing mechanisms. He also works on computer science pedagogy topics including interdisciplinary approaches to teach applications of computer science to students with various backgrounds.
