Computer Science Students Participate in the ERP Prediction Contest

Hosted by the Department of Statistics & Applied Probability, the Center for Financial Mathematics and Actuarial Research, and Hull Tactical, the ERP Prediction Contest invited undergraduate and masters students to build a predictive model that could predict S&P 500 returns. The contest ran from February 15, 2019, until May 15, 2019, and the awards ceremony was held on May 16, 2019.

Undergraduate and masters students teamed up in groups of up to 4 members to compete for prizes in two categories: Best Prediction and Most Creative. Prizes included $2500 for winners of each category and $1000 for runners-up. Teams were encouraged to participate in both categories.

23 undergraduate and masters Computer Science students participated in the competition. Notably, Yunkai Zhang, a College of Creative Sciences Computing & Mathematics undergraduate student, won the Most Creative category.
