Ziad Matni received his PhD in Information Science from Rutgers University, where he also taught as an adjunct faculty member before joining UCSB. Before his work in academia, he held multiple engineering and management positions in the semiconductor, computer systems, and data communication industry for over a decade.
Dr. Matni's research is in the field of information-seeking behavior in networked communities and makes use of computational analysis of large data sets (Big Data). This is often interdisciplinary work that brings together areas of computer science and the social sciences. His research also includes work on computer science pedagogy and human-computer interaction design.
