Visiting CS and UCSB
The Department of Computer Science is located on the campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara, about nine miles west of downtown Santa Barbara and 90 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
Maps of campus and the area are available on the UCSB website. The campus may also be accessed easily from many major US cities by flying into the Santa Barbara Airport (SBA), located adjacent to UCSB. The Santa Barbara Air Bus also provides round-trip service from the Los Angeles Airport (LAX) to its Goleta terminal, located close to the UCSB campus.
- From the north on the US-101 freeway, take the Los Carneros exit (exit 107). Turn right onto Los Carneros. After passing Hollister Rd., take a left onto Mesa Road, which takes you onto the north side of campus and eventually to the main (east) entrance.
- From the south on the US-101 freeway, follow the UCSB / Airport Exit signs (exit 104B) onto route 217, which takes you directly to the campus entrance.
Usually, the best place to park when visiting the Department of Computer Science is in Lot 10, a parking garage close to Harold Frank Hall. (See the campus map.) The spots on the first level marked "Coastal Access" are available to visitors - be sure to pay at the kiosk near the stairwell and place the receipt on your dashboard. For more information about parking on campus, see the UCSB Transportation & Parking Services site.
The Computer Science administrative offices are located near the main (east) campus entrance on the second floor of Harold Frank Hall (a.k.a. HFH, formerly known as Engineering I).
