UPDATE: As of April 2014 Aaron is now at MIT. Please visit his site here.
I am a fifth year Computer Science PhD student at the University of California Santa Barbara. My Masters was in Computer Science from the University of Chicago and have a BS in Electronic Commerce Technologies from DePaul University. After my undergraduate degree I spent six years working as a software engineer for a variety of e-commerce companies. I am typically a research assitant at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) building tools to help ecologists and at the Distributed Systems Lab working with Professors Divy Agrawal and Amr El Abbadi on distributed information systems. My research focus is on building tools for elastic database platforms. I also work on developing tools to aid non-CS reseachers in sharing and exploring datasets over the web (NCEAS, GLOSS). After my PhD, I will be a post-doc with the Database Group at MIT.
